As I've been squeaking about on Twitter, I got a new computer Friday. As much as I loved my old laptop, it had gotten to the point where it was having a hard time handling the interwebs due to all the goddamn Flash. The new one's a desktop, and it's pretty sweet (going from a Celeron processor and 512K of memory to a triple-core processor with 4GB of memory was roughly equivalent to going from a paper airplane to an F-14). Transferring files from Mokona (my laptop) to Enkidu (my desktop) was a pain, though, mostly because Enkidu decided that Mokona didn't exist about halfway through the transfer. I blame Vista--it probably realized I was doing something useful and network-related that it could conceivably use to "encourage" me to buy Vista Pro. But two days and a 4GB thumb drive later, I finally have all my music, all my pictures, all my manga, all my doujinshi, and all my fanfic and just managed to beat Firefox into transferring my bookmarks and preferences. :D

I am, however, missing all my OP manga past Ch. 520, though, because OPHQ seems to have let their domain registration lapse and I usually get my OP scans from them. Hook a sister up with some downloads? I know I can read them online at onemanga.com, but I do like actually having the files.

Also, just finished watching Gurren Lagaan. I must admit I wibbled during Episode 26 and had to bite my lip to keep from crying.

So is Gurren Lagann worth it? I tried to watch the first couple episodes and was bored. Should I continue?

I'm a feminist, and of course I watch things that aren't exactly bastions of feminism (One Piece for example, although I'd argue it's the best out of the top Shounen Jump manga in terms of female characters), and I was pretty put-off by the main female character. Does she get better?

I love the show, but I'm an unabashedly male fan of Mecha Anime, so I might not be able to view the show in the same sense that you do. ^^;

I can say that Yoko is a pretty powerful character throughout the show. While she shows off quite a bit of fan service, she is also a lot more mature then most female characters in similar anime.

Again, this is all from my lenses, which I will admit, are glowing green with spiral energy at this point....

I appreciate your comment! I think I might look into it some more, I just have to get around to it. Thanks! ♥

^_^ I hope you enjoy it! I can understand if you don't though, no one show is for everyone. :)

From a lady-who-likes-mecha-anime-and-rampant-fanservice point of view, I'd say it is. It's very much a show aimed at men, but Yoko kicks all manner of ass, despite her boobies bouncing all over the screen, and continues to kick it throughout the course of the series. The Black sisters are likewise various degrees of awesome, Ginny is badass, and Leyte is incredible.

Feminism warning #1: There is a hot springs episode. It runs along standard hot spring episode lines, i.e. one man's neverending quest to see the women's side of the baths. If you survived Nami's Happiness Punch, you should be fine.

Feminism warning #2: Adiane and her Talking Vagina Robot will either hurt your soul or amuse the shit out of you.

Feminism warning #3: You are going to have Issues with Nia. She's a sheltered, naive princess who exists largely to be a glorified mascot and to give the main character something to rescue. She also shoves the Mary Sue Meter off the scale. She's kind of a adorable anyway, but from a feminist point of view she is all that is wrong and evil with the world. You are doing yourself a grave disservice if you watch the first half of the show and not the second, though, so if you don't think you can possibly stand her, skip it.

Queer advisory: Despite his initial appearance, Leeron is a-fucking-MAZING. Don't give up on him just because he's campy as hell. He is, in fact, made of solid win.

Thanks so much for the detailed feminist warnings! They'll probably help cushion my incredulity when I see them appear in the anime (that is if I'm already amused). ALSO thanks for the queer advisory. Dunno if you already knew I was queer, or if you figured I'd just be in tune with that stuff, but it helps. It can be rough watching anime/reading manga made for heretonormative men sometimes (lol recent chapter of OP ;_; ;_; ;_;).

Beware of 523, cause Oda went off the crack end for that one, esp. regarding Sanji XD I'm convinced he'll hate Luffy forever if he should ever tell Sanji what he 'went through' without his crew...
Oh, and I'm not completely sure the link for 521 will work, the site kept spewing nonsense at me halfway through loading itself, but was operable afterwards.

No good--the links are either telling me I don't have permission to access the files or that their bandwidth has been exceeded. D: Thank you for trying, though.
