Day 7:

Today was "See Lots of Friends" day! desyhand was visiting from California, brian_kun and dethorats swung down to our neck of the woods to hang out for a little while, and our friend Teffy popped by to say hello. brian_kun and dethorats brought me some very belated and unexpected birthday presents, and holy crap, they actually braved a doll website for me despite being enormously creeped out by BJDs! Lassa now has naff boots and a lovely new shirt. :D So despite today starting off crappy, it turned out good in the end.

I'm not dead!

I was planning on waiting to post until I got some pictures of my new car. I was all like "Yay car! Imma take pikshures! I'll even wait for a sunny day so my car looks its nicest, because the pictures on the internet of this color look like shit!"

We haven't had a sunny day in two weeks. There may have been sun at some point during that period, but since I'm working essentially from dawn to dusk nowadays, I haven't seen it. D: Ultimate failure.

First off, thank you to genuinelie and skyrat13! We got your cards--they're so cute. ♥ luco_millian, your card is up on our fridge; it's so pretty! And sherriaisling, thank you so much for the candy OMNOMNOMNOM and the tasty shower gel OMNOMNO--oops. Love you all.

Secondly, last Monday night I went from $0 in debt (no student loans, no car payments, and no credit cards) to $10,000 in debt. Ow. ;_; At least I had nearly $7,000 to slap down as a down payment--Essie retained her value surprisingly well, and Geico actually gave me fair market value for her. I bought a Honda Fit in an odd shade of metallic purple called Blackberry Pearl, which BlackBerry will no doubt make Honda rename in the near future. I love it to pieces. ♥ I was thinking about calling it Robin, but ultimately decided that it was too short and its nose was too small. XD I named her Hanako-chan instead and toned the OP geekery down a notch only to replace it with Haunted Junction nerdery instead--OHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOD.

Other than that, nothing much happened to me. I saw Avenue Q at the Hippodrome, had a nice Yule, and spent yesterday driving all over Maryland (allllll the way out to Hagerstown in crazy traffic of Christmas buttfuckery) in my shiny new car. For something with an engine only slightly larger than a go-kart's, she does 85mph pretty well. >D

And now, onwards to working on my exchange fics, which I totally didn't leave 'til the last minute. Nope. Nuh-uh. Not at all.

As most of you may have guessed, Kaja's present arrived!

( Unfortunately, it did not arrive in the best of shape. )

THANK YOU for the lovely package and cards, yuki_kokoro! The candy has been quite yummy and the card made my day and gave my ego a boost like the praise-whore that I am.

Also, I finally got your gift out today arinye. Sorry it took so horribly long, but I'm rapidly discovering that it's one thing to vow never to use FedEx again and quite another to actually pull it off when there's not a UPS store for miles and you can only make it to the post office one day a week. >>;

THANK YOU vampire_otaku! The doujinshi was delightful (XD random Sanji/Fullbody thrown in FTW and so many WHAT THE HELL WHY IS ZORO SO HOT IN THIS moments) and David squeed over the chocolate. I really wish you could have made it tonight, though I'd have felt bad for you having to drive so far.

Also THANK YOU sherrymarie for the holiday card! It made me warm and squishy inside (once I got over the OHNOES of the outside), and hopefully we'll be seeing you at Katsucon. Eee.

In the other-people-getting-presents-from-me department, gifts have mostly been ordered but may not get to persons until after Christmas, due to the vagaries of shipping and such and the fact that I'm NEVER USING FEDEX FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN. Also, thanks to my horrific stress inducing insanely expensive nightmare extremely poor experience with FedEx this year, I politely request that people not ship things to me via FedEx either.

If I am writing you a fic, I will try my damnedest to get it to you before New Year's and will also try my damnedest to make it not suck. If your fic is delayed, you can throw sharp pointy broken glass ornaments at me until I finish it. D:
