Still alive. Just had a hippy weekend, in which I went to the Baltimore Pagan Pride Festival and the Maryland Renaissance Festival (WHYYYYY CAN I NOT GO TO RENN FEST WITHOUT RUNNING INTO A ZILLION PEOPLE I KNOW, MOST OF WHOM I DO NOT LIKE? Oh yeah, that's right--Darkon. ._.) and spent too much money.

NEED TO WRITE FOR OPY100 THIS WEEK BECAUSE DAMN. Topiiiiiiiic.

Too tired now, though. Later.

In fandom-related news, the increasing popularity of pirates brings me great joy and means I got to see lots of nice stuff at Renn Fest. But really, the part I love best about Renn Fest is the cosplayers. Yes, THAT kind of cosplayers. I saw Link, Belldandy, and Jack Sparrow today. I badly want to crash Pirate Weekend one of these years in OP gear. XD Anime FTW.

Argh, did you go on Sunday then? Lying weather! It swore rain at me since Wednesday so we went on Saturday just in case. And Brian and I were talking about crashing Pirate Invasion weekend ourselves and how we'd HAVE to go as Ben and Shanks. I'm glad we're not the only ones.

(Also, in relation to your own parentheseed section, why is that always so true? Ugh.)

We did go on Sunday, and the weather was insanely gorgeous from the time we got there to the glorious sunset as we were leaving. Not too hot, not too cold, just the right amount of clouds to keep people from getting too badly sunburnt, and the rain the day before kept the dust down...I think it was the nicest Renn Fest, weather-wise, I've ever been to. I'm sorry that the weathermen spoke teacherous lies to you, but I'm definitely not sorry I went when it wasn't raining. XD

(The bit about Renn Fest or the bit about Darkon? Or both?)

The bit about Renn Fest. I never fail to see people I know, and usually it's the people I don't want to see that I end up running into. I sometimes forget just how relatively small Maryland is...

Woah, the closest I ever saw to cosplay at the Pennsylvania RenFaire were Lord of the Rings costumers. And there was only a tiny bit of pirate whatnot, though granted, it's been a couple summers since then.

I'm jealous. ;_;

XD We get LotR cosplayers too, though I didn't see very many this year--only a couple of elves. Link is out there every weekend like clockwork--I've seen her every year for the last three--and Jack Sparrows are a bit par for the course there. Belldandy was the one that really surprised me. If hadn't been in the middle of watching the Shakepeare Skum, I probably would have run over and shaken her hand.

MD Renn Fest PWNS. They have a permanent village set up for it and everything. I miss our old Henry VIII, though--the new one's got the look, but his voice isn't as regal.
