I have no doubt Sanji would have let Kuma kill him if he thought it would save the others, so I am kind of glad Zoro went "Pay no attention to that idiot over there. He's injured and raving. *SWORDSLAPPED!* See, he just passed out . I'm Spartacus totally the man you want to see about killing."

It's fascinating--Sanji's self-preservation instincts are nearly as powerful as Usopp's, though they're pointed in a different direction. I tend to think he views his life and body as a testament to Zeff's sacrifice, and so he's obligated to try to preserve them. In the beginning of the series, he didn't understand why Zoro didn't think the same way. He understands now, and somewhere in his secret heart of hearts he admits that he was wrong and Zoro was right. This was his big stupid macho way of hitting on him saying so. ♥

It's the blood. Zoro's blood is a powerful aphrodesiac, and he was surrounded by a twenty-foot circle of it. It's a miracle Sanji didn't come in his pants right there.
